Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in the United Arab Emirates is part of the spectacular cloud-piercing Al Hajar mountain range. The range extends from Ras Al Khaimah on the eastern side of the United Arab Emirates to the Musandam Peninsula in northern Oman. It is 100 kilometres in width and 700 kilometres in length, straddles the two countries, and is the highest mountain range in the region. The dramatic Jebel Jais mountainscapes are home to life-changing, adrenaline-pumping, awe-inspiring and cloud-piercing adventures and experiences.
Jais Flight is the longest zipline in the world. Soar across jagged mountain peaks and swoop through deep ravines at hair-raising speeds of up to 160 kmph. Three minutes of adrenaline-pumping adventure at 1680 metres above the Arabian Gulf will leave you with a once-in-a-lifetime sense of superhero magic. The professionally trained team is committed to providing you the most exciting flying experience whilst adhering to the highest standards of excellence and safety. Each participant will be fitted correctly with the right over-suit and superhero-style horizontal harness that allows you to fly 2.83 km aerodynamically at high speeds.
The Jais Sledder sits comfortably on a low-slung track. You’ll reach up to 40 kilometres per hour as you hurtle down the Hajar mountain range swerving through glorious panoramas with views of the spectacular coastline. The speed seems amplified ten-fold because you are sitting so close to the ground. The total ride takes about eight minutes to cover 1,840 exhilarating metres of hairpin curves and undulating waves. You can choose to share the experience with a friend or a member of your family or go superhero-solo.
The dramatic climb to the Jais Viewing Deck Park takes you 1,250 metres above sea level and almost 30 km into the heart of the mountains. The mountain range formed over 70 million years ago and bursts with traditions, secrets, and mind-stilling magic. The roads are well made and are accessible by cars, 4X4s, motorbikes, and cycles. The hairpin road gloriously meanders through ruddy barren landscapes, deep chasms and rugged cliffs. Just shy of the summit is the ultimate viewing deck that affords breathtaking views across more of the Hajar mountain range, rolling desert-scapes, and finally, the Arabian Gulf. On one side, you have views across the zig-zagging road, swooping valleys and cloud-piercing peaks and on the other, date wadis, villages and the Arabian Gulf. You can also watch adrenaline-fuelled guests facing their fears and flying the longest zipline in the world, Jais Flight.
Dhayah Fort, a castle-like structure, is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List and stands proud amidst the arid mountains and fertile date wadis of northern Emirate Ras Al Khaimah. The fort forms the centre of this lush oasis and boasts spectacular views from the mountains across palm trees and verdant lands to neighbouring Oman and down to the sea. Dhayah Fort is the UAE’s only remaining hilltop fort, dating back to the Bronze Age. The fort is located on a 70-metre hill and provides stunning vistas overlooking the near-by date farms and the coast.
Ras Al Khaimah is one of the few places that has continuously been inhabited throughout its history, making it one of the longest-settled places in the world. The National Museum houses an impressive collection of archaeological and ethnological artefacts for visitors to explore.
